MBS LUNCH: Reprices for the Better Possible If….

Friday, January 29th, 2010

pPosted To: a href=”/mortgage_rates/blog/”MBS Commentary/a/pI was feeling terribly unmotivated earlier today…until Pandora played THIS . Now I feel compelled to buy the curve and get long the MBS basis ahead of a normally supportive week for MBS valuations. Well done Pandora, well done. READ MORE: SUPPORTIVE WEEK Hmmm…that statement may have been a bit misleading. Do not read that as: quot;AQ expects MBS prices to improve next weekquot;. Read as: quot;AQ expects MBS to outperform TSYs next weekquot;. The direction mortgage rates head is more a function of Treasury yields at the moment. And no…that does not count as me speaking in third person because I am pretending to be you. For now…after almost two days of consistently failing to break 100-24, quot;rate sheet influentialquot; MBS coupons have re-entered their recent range. Given early…(a href=”http://www.mortgagenewsdaily.com/mortgage_rates/blog/132257.aspx”read more/a)pdiv style=”background-color:#D4EDC9;border:1px solid #BDD4B3;padding:3px 5px 3px 6px; color:#000000;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:12px;”strongForward this article via email:/strongnbsp;nbsp;a href=”http://www.mortgagenewsdaily.com/channels/132257/3/forward.aspx” style=”color:#3333CC;”Send a copy of this story/a to someone you know that may want to read it./div/pimg src=”http://www.mortgagenewsdaily.com/aggbug.aspx?PostID=132257″ width=”1″ height=”1″

MBS MORNING: Bonds Continue To Shrug Off GDP News

Friday, January 29th, 2010

pPosted To: a href=”/mortgage_rates/blog/”MBS Commentary/a/pAQ couldn#39;t have said it any better earlier this AM. Indeed, when 5.7% growth hit the screens, our first instinct was to assume, quot;ok, well, that is not the REAL and representative measure of growth, so where#39;s the discrepancy and what internals of the report support that?quot; AQ covered those internals well in MBS OPEN, but the question remained, would the markets see it as bearishly as we do? Would the headline of 5.7% drive the trade or were the markets going to take just as long a look at the internals? Hats off to the market#39;s logical response… Not only has the range held up, but is currently in even better shape than most of yesterday.. Though it#39;s a two-edge sword, the good outweighs the bad here. THE GOOD: Bonds get to keep their seat at the big boy table despite…(a href=”http://www.mortgagenewsdaily.com/mortgage_rates/blog/132210.aspx”read more/a)pdiv style=”background-color:#D4EDC9;border:1px solid #BDD4B3;padding:3px 5px 3px 6px; color:#000000;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:12px;”strongForward this article via email:/strongnbsp;nbsp;a href=”http://www.mortgagenewsdaily.com/channels/132210/3/forward.aspx” style=”color:#3333CC;”Send a copy of this story/a to someone you know that may want to read it./div/pimg src=”http://www.mortgagenewsdaily.com/aggbug.aspx?PostID=132210″ width=”1″ height=”1″

pPosted To: a href=”/channels/pipelinepress/default.aspx”Pipeline Press/a/pquot;Free advice is well worth the price.quot; Keep that in mind the next time you ask someone in Secondary Marketing if you should lock today or wait. Freddie Mac announced a change to their condo policy for loans with application dates on or after February 1 . Companies who sell to Freddie quot;may only use FHA condominium project approval to determine the eligibility of FHA and certain other federally guaranteed or insured condominium unit mortgages for sale to Freddie Mac. Conventional conforming condominium unit mortgages in FHA-approved condominium projects may still be eligible for sale to Freddie Mac provided the condominium project meets our requirements.quot; Freddie goes on to remind their customers that borrowers with Freddie Mac-owned mortgages in all condominium projects are…(a href=”http://www.mortgagenewsdaily.com/channels/pipelinepress/01292010-freddie-avm.aspx”read more/a)pdiv style=”background-color:#D4EDC9;border:1px solid #BDD4B3;padding:3px 5px 3px 6px; color:#000000;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:12px;”strongForward this article via email:/strongnbsp;nbsp;a href=”http://www.mortgagenewsdaily.com/channels/132159/3/forward.aspx” style=”color:#3333CC;”Send a copy of this story/a to someone you know that may want to read it./div/pimg src=”http://www.mortgagenewsdaily.com/aggbug.aspx?PostID=132159″ width=”1″ height=”1″
